| High Street from McDowall Street |
A busy High Street in or near the 1920's with a Tram in the distance
stopped just outside where Woolworths is now. Some of the children are
barefoot, showing the poverty at this time. Few
changes here, I'm happy to say, why am I happy to say, well places like
Braehead will come and go, they have no soul, but a High Street holds the
promise of shops with people who have set them up and run their business
from them. Johnstone Domestic Appliances are here, Penmans, a long
established family business is here and the Deli at the corner (it's next
to the amber light - too dark to see - sorry) is one of the best places
for coffee and a cake I have the pleasure of tasting :-) |
