The Osprey

When we first entered The Osprey we where greeted by a pool table. We thought was a very nice touch and gave the impression we where entering into a good and lively pub.

We felt rather uncomfortable to begin with because the regulars stared at us for a while, we were rather younger than them. The ice was broken when an old man asked us to take our dominoes to play with - that made us feet more comfortable.

The Libations
We quickly scanned the bar counter to see what kind of refreshments were on offer. We bought in our beers, (Carslberg). This was surprisingly nice and most likely the best lager on offer in the Osprey...depending on your taste, however, it was good value.

We started to like this pub now. We also bought in a pint of Stella as well, which was rather expensive but it wasn't to our liking. On our last round we decided to buy in bottles of Budweiser, which were chilled to perfection and extremely good value. We enjoyed them greatly.

Entertainment
As we drunk our beers we started to look around the pub to see the quality of entertainment on offer.
We saw, on this night, that it was mostly old men, playing dominos and cards, so we had a quick game of cards. We noticed the large TV screen in the corner as well which we thought was a great addition to the pub. We realised that it was playing VH-1 and TCM (obviously aimed at the older patrons in the pub) - nice touch for customer relations, however, we were looking to see more of a range of musical tastes which would accommodate us. We then headed towards the pool table.

The pool table was not to our liking. The cues where not well maintained, and also there was limited  room to play, we were greatly disappointed!

That is basically what the Osprey had on offer.

Summary
As we decided to leave, we reflected on the Osprey, this is actually a really nice pub.  The atmosphere was good, the service was really good and the over quality of the bar was good! It was really spacious and very comfortable.

We would have to say that we think the pub is aimed more for the older generation, but once we had got in and settled down we felt very much part of it.

Over all we would give the Osprey 3 out of 5.
Well done!
