Appointments :

You may see any of the doctors, but for continuity of care, please try to see the same doctor for a continuing problem or illness.    If you think the problem is urgent, please tell the Receptionist and the first doctor available on that particular day will see you.

IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO ATTEND YOUR APPOINTMENT FOR ANY REASON, PLEASE TELEPHONE THE SURGERY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AND LET THE RECEPTIONIST KNOW.

Patients who ‘Do Not Attend’ are preventing other patients from taking up their appointment time.  Every month, approximately 80 patients for one reason or another, do not show up for their appointments -

this is THE EQUIVALENT OF SIX SURGERIES PER MONTH.

Because of the ever increasing workload placed on our doctors the Surgery has,  regrettably, been forced to introduce the policy; wherein if a patient regularly fails to attend for their appointments but doesn't take the trouble to cancel, they risk being removed from our surgery list.

THE SURGERY IS OPEN FROM 8.30 A.M. – 6.00 P.M. Monday to Friday.

Surgery times vary from day to day, but they are generally

 8.30 a.m. - 11.00 a.m.       and       3.30 p.m.  - 6.00 p.m.

HOME VISITS :

Home visits can be arranged if you cannot come to the Surgery.  Please try and phone the Surgery before 10.00 a.m.  If you phone after this time, and your call is not urgent, we may delay your visit to the following day.  Remember that you will be seen  sooner at the Surgery  rather than waiting for a home visit, so please ensure that it is only in cases of emergency that you request a home visit.

OUT OF HOURS :

After 6.00 p.m.  and only for serious illnesses and emergencies, there is the Renfrewshire Emergency Medical Service which is located at the Geriatric Day Hospital of the Royal Alexandra Hospital.  Please telephone 0141 889 2054 in cases

of emergency only.  You will be asked to attend the Centre, however, home visits will continue to be available for those who are seriously ill or genuinely housebound.

PLEASE REMEMBER:  THIS SERVICE IS ONLY IF YOUR PROBLEM CAN NOT

WAIT UNTIL THE surgery opens AGAIN.

BLOOD TESTS & RESULTS* :

We would ask that all our patients please restrict telephoning the Surgery for their results until  after 2.00 p.m.  in the afternoon.  As you can appreciate  the phone lines during the morning are extremely busy.   Our Receptionists will therefore, be in a better position to handle your call more efficiently, later on in the day.

nb. Normal blood samples and tests will take approximately five working days to be

      returned to the Surgery.
